Zhenjinag
Vegetable Research Institute has been sparing no efforts to the
introduction of professionals and sending personnel abroad for advanced
study recently years. Since 1992, many agriculture experts have
been invited from Japan to give technical guide and lecture in Zhenjiang
and several technicians have been sent to Japan for advanced studies
twice.
The institute has imported more than 20 kinds of pumpkin varieties
from Japan. Through  practical
growing and seed –selecting, some early-ripe and quality pumpkin
varieties suitable for local climate growing condition have
been selected out. At present, varieties of pumpkin are available
in the market in May or in June, which has filled up the blank
of short of pumpkin in China during the period of the second
season of the year.
