| Enjoying Canal & Full Moon Aboard--Foreign Experts to Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival |
Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most widely celebrated festivals in China, fell on Sept 21st this year. Zhenjiang Foreign Experts Bureau held an activity "Enjoying Canal & Full Moon Aboard" to celebrate this special day. 25 foreign experts and their families from America, Germany, British and Japan took part in the activity.
Most of foreign experts came to Zhenjiang for the first time. When enjoying the scenery of the Yangtze River and the Beijing- Hangzhou Grand Canal, they were curious about everything. They were impressed deeply with the mighty Yangtze River, the new vision of Zhenjiang and "the Floating Jade" Jiaoshan Hill. Facing the beautiful scenes, Mr. Lahrs and his cute son Spencer took pictures for memory at the same time. They all gasped in admiration after knowing that the 1700-kilometer-long Grand Canal was dug by labors 1,400 years ago.
At night, the yacht full loaded foreign experts navigated on the Zhenjiang Ancient Canal. Foreign Experts tasted moon cakes and tea, chatting and laughing, like a large family reunion. Two students performed the famous classic music with the lute and zither. All of foreign experts were attracted deeply by the wonderful melody. " I like Chinese flute and zither very much. They sound very nice." Mr. Awana, from Hawaii U.S.A, said. Later, he sang a song with "Ukulele", a local musical instrument in Hawaii and won the foreign experts' applause. The union culminated in the bilingual intonation of "Shui Diao Ge Tou", a famous poem about Mid-Autumn Festival.
Foreign experts went to deck to enjoy the scenery of the Ancient Canal. Though there was no full moon because of weather, foreign experts deeply felt warm like at their own home.
